This is Jess from jesshuff.com. In this video, I’ll show you how to attach the legs as you’re crocheting the body of your Loop Stitch amigurumi project.

Soon, I’ll be doing a similar tutorial for patterns made with a standard single crochet. I’ll link to that tutorial in the video description when it’s available.

At this point, you should have crocheted rounds 1 – 6 of the body, and have two completed legs, that are slip stitched closed, and have the tails hidden inside the work.

The next step is to mark stitches on the body, that will show us where to attach the legs as we’re crocheting the next round.

Start by marking off the first 6 stitches of the previous round. [counts to 6] Skip 6 stitches. [counts to 6] Then mark off another group of 6. [counts to 6]

Just like all the other rounds of the body, round 7 will be done in the Loop Stitch, and we’ll be repeating a sequence. That sequence is, five single crochets and an increase, repeated six times.

Align the first leg making sure the front is facing out, and the top of the leg is aligned on the loop side of the work.

Remove the first stitch marker, and insert your hook through the first stitch of the round on the body, and through the first slip stitch at the top of the leg.

Complete a Loop Stitch. And we’ll do four more Loop Stitch single crochets for a total of five, stitch-for-stitch, all the way across the top of the leg.

Then we’re going to remove the next stitch marker, and do a Loop Stitch increase in the next stitch.

Okay, that’s the end of our first sequence of five single crochets and an increase done in the Loop Stitch, and we’re going to repeat that sequence again in the space between the legs.

Then, increase. Then we’re going to attach the second leg just like the first leg. So the front of the leg is facing out.

The top of the leg is aligned on the Loop Stitch side. And we’ll do another sequence. Then, we’re going to increase in the last marked stitch.

Okay, and then we’re going to repeat our sequence of 5 single crochets and in increase 3 more times to finish out the round.

Increase. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Increase. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And increase in the last stitch of the round. Our legs are now attached. Complete the rest of the body as your pattern is written.
