This is Jess from jesshuff.com. In this video, I’ll show you how to attach the legs as you’re crocheting the body of your amigurumi project.

At this point, you should have crocheted rounds 1 – 6 on the body, and have 2 completed legs, that are slip stitched closed, and have the tails hidden inside the work.

The next step is to mark stitches on the body that will show us where to attach the legs as we’re crocheting the next round.

Start by marking off the first 6 stitches of the previous round. Skip 6 stitches.

1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6.

Then mark off another group of 6 stitches.

As we crochet the next round, we’ll be repeating a sequence. That sequence is 5 single crochets and an increase, repeated 6 times.

Align the first leg on the right side of the work. Remove the first stitch marker, and we’ll attach the leg by crocheting our first sequence.

Insert your hook through the first slip stitch at the top of the leg, then through the first stitch of the previous round.

Now we’ll do our first sequence, which is 5 single crochets and an increase.

1… 2… 3… 4… 5… Then increase.

Now we’ll repeat the sequence for a second time in the gap between the legs.

1… 2… 3… 4… 5… Increase.

Attach the second leg just like the first leg.

1… 2… 3… 4… 5… And increase.

Repeat the sequence 3 more times to finish out the round.
