How to Attach Amigurumi Ears While Crocheting in the Round

Learn how to attach the ears of your amigurumi project as you’re crocheting the head – no sewing required!

Video Transcript:

This is Jess from jesshuff.com. In this video, I’ll show you how to attach ears to a head on your amigurumi project as you crochet in the round.

At this point, you should already have two completed ears ready to attach. You should also have four stitches marked on the head. They will show you where to start and stop attaching each ear.

We’re going to crochet the round as normal. The only thing we’ll be doing differently is—in the marked stitches and the stitches in between—we’ll be inserting our hook through a stitch on the ear, then a stitch on the head, before completing a single crochet.

To start, single crochet until you hit the first stitch marker. Remove the first stitch marker.

When lining up your ears to crochet on, make sure the ear is upside down and on the outside of the head. This ensures that the stitches will end up on the back of the ear, so you can crochet into them in the next round.

Crochet through the ear and through the head, stitch for stitch. Crochet the portion between the ears as normal.

Attach the second ear the same as the first. Crochet the remainder of the round as normal.

I’ll crochet the next round so you can see what it’s like to work through the stitches on the back of the ears. Complete all remaining rounds as your pattern is written.
