A Crochet Snowman Inspired by Frosty!
Please give a cool welcome to Flurry the Snowman—a delightful snowman amigurumi pattern reminiscent of our festive friend, Frosty!
While I can’t use the name “Frosty the Snowman” due to trademark reasons, Flurry captures the same whimsical spirit.
This amigurumi snowman is perfect for crafters of all skill levels, and will add a touch of winter magic to any holiday decor.
All the Crocheting Fun Without All the Sewing
Flurry is the newest edition to my no-sew Christmas amigurumi patterns. Attach the adorable carrot nose, and zero sewing is required for the rest of the pattern!
This means less time fussing with finishing touches and more time enjoying the creative process. The hat, head and body are all crocheted together as one piece!
Whether you’re a seasoned crocheter or just starting out, you’ll find this Christmas amigurumi pattern straightforward and satisfying.
Stability with Style: Introducing Weighted Stuffing Beads
This is the first amigurumi pattern I’ve created that doesn’t have some kind of legs/feet. Because of Flurry’s round and fluffy build, he may have a hard time standing up on his own.
This problem is easily solved by adding some weighted stuffing beads—a new addition to my usual amigurumi supply list.
Creating a bottom-heavy base with the weighted beads keeps your snowman from tipping over. It’s a simple addition that makes a big difference!
Mastering the Third Loop Technique
In this pattern, I’ve introduced a new crocheting technique: working in the Third Loop. This method creates a distinct polished edge, such as the one along the top-edge of Flurry’s hat.
It’s a subtle detail that helps elevate Flurry from simple amigurumi to a handmade work of art.
Whether you’re crocheting Flurry as a gift or for your own seasonal display, this free snowman crochet pattern promises a joyful crafting experience.

Tips and Tricks
Flattening the top of the hat:
To keep the hat from doming, try hot gluing a plastic lid that is 3 inches (7.5cm) in diameter to the top of the hat on the inside of the work.
Be sure to press the top of the hat firmly against the plastic before the glue has cured.
You probably have a plastic lid that will work in your pantry or medicine cabinet! If not, you can use one of these plastic disks.
Straightening the hat brim:
I added some wire in the last round of my hat brim to help it stick out straight.
When I got to the end of round 04 of the Hat Brim, I measured the circumference. Then I cut some 18 gauge crafting wire to the same length as the circumference of the brim.
I carefully bent the wire into a circle, and had my husband weld the two ends of the wire together with a soldering iron. Then I crocheted around the wire circle while completing the last round of the brim.
I only recommend doing this if your snowman will be for display purposes only, fully out of the reach of children. The wire could bend and split, so a toy containing wire should never be given to a child.
Adding rosy cheeks:
I have always done this with regular ol’ blush from my makeup bag, and a makeup brush. You can embroider a mouth and eyebrows with black yarn to give your snowman even more charm!
Flattening the base of the body:
Just like I recommended for flattening the top of the hat, you can insert a 3-inch (7.5cm) plastic lid or disk after inserting your pouch of weighted beads, and before closing up the body.
I don’t recommend gluing this one in place. This will help your snowman stand up straight and level on hard surfaces!
Straightening the scarf and fringe:
I ironed my scarf and the fringe at the ends with a hair straightener on the lowest heat setting. Be really careful when trying this; the acrylic yarn can melt and ruin your straightener.
Be sure to try the straightener on a test strand of yarn before using it on your scarf. Only apply the straightener for a couple seconds to start, and only use very light pressure.
You can always add more time and pressure, but you can’t take it away once done!
